I have had Shasta daisy 'Alaska,' which I started from seed, in the same spot in my garden for years. I love them, my neighbors comment about them all the time. I put then next to each other (1 ft ) apart. I simply moved the plants to the spot I had in mind in the garden, holding the pots with gloves. To my surprise I had to sacrifice a few seedlings to give them room to grow that how prolific at germinating this variety is.I purchased two plants 3 years ago from Home Depot. The plant is a hybrid that was developed by Luther Burbank in 1901. The 3" blooms attract bees and butterflies, and make great cut flowers. I have it in a mostly sunny location, shade in the morning, about 6 hours direct sun.

Divide plants every 2 to 3 years to maintain vigour. It is now the second day of fall and I have had no blooms.
Even when they wilted in the heat, they quickly came back to life with a little watering. While some daisies come in a variety of colors, most Shasta Daisy colors are limited to white petals with a yellow center and dark green glossy leaves. They stay almost evergreen all winter; when they get kinda brown and droopy I water them and they perk back up. several weeks of heavy rains we experienced here early on - great for the roses but everything else was waterlogged. Remove faded flowers to extend blooming.
